NEW TOYS

Was in my local gunshop today and saw a couple deals I couldn't pass up....

1) Ruger Redhawk (not Super Redhawk) 44 mag with custom, finger-moulded wood grip (very beautiful woodgrain on this thing). Used, but not much. $475
2) Century Yugo RPK (VERY nice, smooth, solid action/receiver) 7.62 x 39 w/2 30 rd mags and 200 rds Wolf ammo $799

I wasn't planning on buying anything today (honest!), but these two gave me a big woody.

Did I do good???

Very nice on the Redhawk! I owned the same one in the past.
I don't think there's a better 44 mag on the market.
I tried different grips and found the original grips to be the best.
They sell a 3 spring set (different lb.) to lighten up the trigger pull.

Oh, SURE!

I've only fired a .44 mag a few times, but the Redhawk is a nice looking pistol.

Does your RPK have the attached bipod? I've heard that they are nice & accurate.

Yep it has the bipod. Haven't gotten to fire it yet though--weather's been kinda nasty this weekend.

I've owed the Super Red Hawk 44 Mag for several years. It's a hand full for this old man with magnum loads. For practicing, I use lower power hand loads and 44 specials in it; much easier on the wrist.

I like those finger molded wooden grips pictured above but thot I might like some Pachmayers better if I can find them. $475 is about par for one on excel condition. I paid near $600 for new several years ago.

My wife carries a hammerless Rossi 44 Special which is very sweet shooting piece.

BTW: If you'd be interested in a scope for your Red Hawk, I have for sale an extended eye relief Leuold M8 (2x20mm) LNIB for $200 OBO.

Yes, they have surprisingly little recoil for the wallop they pack. I started her off with a 32 cal and worked her up to the 44 Special. I also have her loaded with alternate rounds of lead pellet shells (looks to be about #8 shot).
